Now the night has fallen,
And there’s little left to see,
You’d better light your candle - before you lose me,
And you can hold your hand out
I will take it gratefully,
And we’ll still be together till we’re old.
Now the wind is howling,
Smells like something’s in the air,
We’d better wake the boys up - and get ‘em out of there.
Now we may cry and worry
But there’s nothing we can do,
‘Cept maybe stick together through the cold.
But then, we’ve got a lot to learn,
We both have a lot to yearn for too,
But there’s so much to live for.
Said the wind is howling,
It smells like something’s in the air,
We’d better wake the boys up - and get ‘em out of there.
Now we may cry and worry
But there was nothing we could do,
But we still stuck together through the cold.
Ah but then…… (as before)
Now it’s sleep that’s calling,
And there’s nothing left to say.
You’d better snuff your candle – that’ll keep the flies away.
I’ll help you up the stairs my dear
And soothe your gentle head,
And we’ll still be together till we’re called.
