Changes - printing error on some early CDs

Having just got the Changes CDs printed, we discovered an error!  Thankfully not on the recordings but in printing.  The track information for Changes on this website is correct.

On some early CDs that were sent out, we erroneously seem to be claiming that 'America' (track 12) was written by Chris (sadly, it wasn't).  Also, thereafter, the song numbering on the original printed inserts then goes from 13-16 when it should be 12-15.  The final 5 tracks (Gamrie Blues, America, Buy Broom Besoms, Fair Phyllis and The Tailor and the Mouse) start at track 11 and are the remastered/repaired songs from our original 70''s recordings.  There are 15 tracks on the CD, not 16.  Track 12 was written by Paul Simon - of course!

We have now had the insets reprinted and will exchange those on CDs that have already gone out - but are stuck, on those with the error on the CD itself.  I trust that all - and particularly Paul Simon - will forgive us.  Apologies.

All newly-despatched Changes CDs have been corrected with new inserts and amendments to the CDs themselves.

The Whinchat albums as CDs

All the Whinchat albums are available as CDs.  If you want any of them (because you understand that .wav versions really do sound better than .mp3's - or you want to play them on your stereo system or in the car without having to burn a CD yourself) just reach us via the 'Contact' tab with your address and we'll get them off to you.

We don't ask for any cash, but a promise of a halfway decent donation to a charity of your choice would seem reasonable, don't you think?  It'll be up to you and your conscience.

We've just got back into contact with John Carey

The internet oracle that is Jackie Hindson finally tracked John down to Newcastle on Tyne.  John and the rest of us are now engaged in saying Hi again after about 35 years!!

Watch this space.

The Whinchat Final Concert available for download

We found a battered old reel to reel tape that had been lying on a shelf for years at Lawrence 'Faz' Faragher's place.  He thought it might contain Whinchat recordings.  It lay on a shelf in Bernie's house for a few more years (no-one had a reel to reel to play it on!). Finally, it got sent away to a firm who transferred it to CD.  After many further hours of work in Audition (such a great programme for playing with .wav files!  And now available on Macs too!) its now been completely re-mastered into this 'mainly excerpts' format.  Enjoy if you were there or knew us at the time.  We've split the file into two so if you want to search for something it'll be a bit easier.  There's a great intro to the second half when we sang 'Silent Night' to set the scene for the Summer Ball at our College the next day (!?) and got the audience to join in.   And of course the whole thing ends with what everyone thought of as our signature song - Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.  Nice to have a halfway decent recording of that one at last.

If you want a .wav CD copy of the Final Concert, we'll burn one specially for you (but note that that one won't be in the fully printed livery that the main albums come in).
